*SOLD*Canada Shipped Antique Colt Frontier Six Shooter Single Action Army

The accompanying factory letter states this revolver was shipped on June 1, 1892, to Hingston Smith Arms Company in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, in .44-40 caliber, with a 5 1/2 inch barrel, blue finish, and a wood grip, with 2 guns of the same type in this shipment. Canada shipped Frontier Six Shooter Single Action Army revolvers from this timeframe are rarely encountered stateside today, with this being the only example witnessed factory shipped to this specific destination. The .44-40 WCF Single Action Army has found a special place in the hearts of Peacemaker collectors. When introduced in 1877, the .44-40 WCF Single Action Army was intended to be used in conjunction with the another legendary Western icon, the Winchester Model 1873 Rifle, which used the same cartridge. The top of the barrel is stamped with the one-line Colt Hartford address, with the roll-stamped marking "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" on the left. The left of the frame has the two-line patent date markings and the circled Rampant Colt logo. It has a blade front sight and frame-top groove rear sight. Matching visible serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, and butt, with unnumbered cylinder, and assembly number "311" on the loading gate.

Condition

Very good and proudly exhibiting the proper character of a Canadian carried sidearm, retains 20% original blue finish, strong patterns of original case colors in protected areas, with smooth brown and gray patina on the balance, charming freckling, some light pitting, and defined markings. The grip is also very good, with nice fitment, a few small nicks, and well-defined edges. Mechanically excellent.
