Overview
The Barrett REC7® DI is a semi-automatic rifle based on Eugene Stoner’s direct impingement operating system. It is designed as a lightweight, modular AR-pattern platform.
Platform Design
The REC7® DI utilizes a direct impingement gas system and features a mid-length gas system configuration. The upper and lower receivers are machined from 7075-T6 aluminum, and aluminum components are finished with Type III hardcoat anodizing.
Barrel & Construction
The rifle is equipped with a cold hammer-forged, chrome-lined barrel and is chambered in 5.56×45 NATO.

Each REC7® DI rifle is assembled, inspected, and tested prior to leaving the factory.

Barrett recommends the use of flow-through type suppressors that do not significantly increase action speeds on all REC® family products (or any gas-operated firearm system).
