Created by famous American gun designer and gunsmith J. D. Jones, the 14.5 JDJ cartridge is based on the standard .50 BMG with the neck opened to accept the SSK's (Jones' company) own solid brass 14.5mm bullet, coming together to make a cartridge that will launch an 1,173 grain projectile at 2,700 feet per second, generating nearly 19,000 ft. lbs. of energy, a truly staggering number. The round is so large that Jones was required to acquire a special exemption from the ATF for it, meaning that even though the bore diameter is over .50 caliber, rifles chambered for the cartridge do not need to be registered as Destructive Devices. The 14.5 JDJ is just one of Jones' many contributions to the world of cartridges, he is the inventor of the "Whisper" series of cartridges, which was the basis for the hugely popular .300 Blackout cartridge, now in use with American Special Forces, as well as the .950 JDJ, the most powerful sporting cartridge ever developed. With the rifle is a hard plastic case, a set of loading dies, and 91 bullets labelled 1221 grains.
Condition: Very fine overall, original finish with minor handling evidence and some minor spotting. Mechanically excellent. These massive rifles chambered in JDJ cartridges such as this one are very rare and highly sought after, and chances to own them do not come around everyday!
