Colt Flattop Target Model Single Action Army Revolver

Offered here is a hard to find, very fine, example of a Colt Flattop Target Model Single Action Army revolver chambered in .38 Long Colt, wearing a set of beautiful pearl grips with Rampant Colt medallions. The accompanying factory letter states this revolver was shipped on December 8, 1911, to P.T. Streit at an unlisted address, in .38 Long Colt caliber, with a 7 1/2 inch barrel, blue finish, and type of grips not listed. It is one of only a reported 925 standard frame Flattop Target Model Single Action Army revolvers manufactured in total. Only 122 of those are recorded in factory ledgers as shipped in .38 Long Colt per page 252 of "The Book of Colt Firearms" by Wilson. One-line Colt Hartford address marked on top of the barrel, with "38 COLT." caliber designation on the left side. Features the scarce flattop frame, with a beaded blade front sight and dovetail mounted square notch rear sight. The left of the frame carries the two-line patent date markings followed by the circled Rampant Colt logo. Matching visible serial numbers on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard, and butt, with unnumbered cylinder, and assembly number "678" on the loading gate.

Condition

Very fine, retains 80% bright original high polish blue finish, with cylinder drag lines, smooth gray patina on the balance, and sharp markings and edges in the metal overall. The grips are exceptionally fine, with attractively aged patina and lustrous colors. Mechanically excellent.
